ต้มเลือดเรือ

Origin

Tamarind rum cocktail emerged from blending the sharp tang of palm sugar and molasses with white rum, drawing inspiration from northern and northeastern Thai rural culinary traditions. It became popular at night markets and festivals, where innovative drinks are served to attract tourists.

Characteristics and Taste

The drink displays a deep reddish-purple color from tamarind pulp, with delicate bubbles from soda. It offers a complex taste profile—spicy-sour with underlying sweetness, followed by a rich, smooth rum finish that adds depth and warmth. While warming to the stomach, it remains refreshingly vibrant.

Ingredients

  • 100 ml tamarind pulp juice
  • 50 ml white rum
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 50 ml water
  • Ice cubes to preference
  • 60 ml soda water

Serving Method

Mix tamarind pulp, sugar, and water in a bowl. Stir until sugar dissolves. Add rum and stir again. Pour over ice in a serving glass. Top with soda water. Drink immediately while icy cold for optimal refreshment.
